Radboud international Model United Nations 2011
The 7th edition of the Radboud International Model United Nations, hosted at the Radboud University took place from 15th to 17th April 2011.
Based around the theme shifting balances, students from over 25 different universities and coming from over 12 different countries, discussed the issues around shifting global power relations, and the changing standards towards warfare, human rights violations and the environment. A weekend long students were transformed in global leaders and solved the issues of rising tensions at the Korean Peninsula, the global consumption of oil, nationalist terrorism, child trafficking and the completion of the European Union. Next to the hard work during the day, there was plenty of time to discover the other side of diplomacy in the evenings.
The Radboud University, situated in the oldest city of The Netherlands, constitutes a great environment for participants to experience the working and the decision-making process of the United Nations. RiMUN has always been awarded for the high quality in content and committee topics. This year, we were able to maintain that reputation by including an interesting symposium on micro credits.
On behalf of the board, we would like to thank all the enthusiastic participants, chairs and volunteers. Without them, RiMUN 2011 would not have been such a success.
